In 2023, the Prince Edward Island Kiwanis Music Festival Association (PEIKMFA) piloted the Contemporary Styles Festival as a new virtual festival for young performers and songwriters of contemporary styles of music. We are delighted to be taking this project into it’s second year, following the success of last year’s pilot.

Last year, we had two streams: The Competitive Stream for ages 30 and under and the Non-Competitive Stream for ages 18 and under, intended to appeal to Island high school students.

Based on feedback from the pilot year, this year (2024) there will be 3 age categories (under 30, under 18, and under 12) and all performers can choose to perform either competitively or non-competitively. 

All streams will again be adjudicated by musicians from the PEI music industry.
