About the queens county music festival

 

The Queens County Music Festival is a competitive music festival open to all ages. The ages participating at the Provincial Festival (PEIKMF) are Junior (11 years and under) to Advanced (30 years and under). Queens County Music Festival is a member of The Prince Edward Island Kiwanis Music Festival Association, a non-profit organization that represents four local festivals.

 

The purpose is to promote and encourage growth in music through local festival performances in competitive and non-competitive classes. Queens County Music Festival is affiliated with The Federation of Canadian Music Festivals.

 

The first Competitive Musical Festival was held on May 10th and 11th, 1946 at the Prince of Wales College Auditorium, Charlottetown, PEI. The festival was sponsored by the Women’s Institute Convention Group and open to Districts of Parkdale, Spring Park, South Milton, Harrington, Brackley Beach, Maple Hills, East Royalty, West Royalty and Central Royalty. The first Adjudicator was Miss Dorothy Allen from Mt. Allison Conservatory of Music.
